My Journey to Green

Everyone has their story of how they became "Green". Mine is like many others. While perusing the library for a new read I discovered a book called Gorgeously Green by Sophia Uliano. I never realized there was such a serious concern for our Earth's environment. I was an ignorant housewife that got her current event dose from Drudge Reports.com and the five o'clock news. Our planet's debacle wasn't front page news, therefore I was unaware of the seriousness of this issue. Next, I discovered websites, blogs, and more books bringing this issue to light. The more I read the more I wanted to do something.

It has not been an easy task. At first I thought being economically challenged-aka broke as a joke -would make it difficult for me to make an impact. Then I thought that I needed to do it all at once and I felt so overwhelmed. After an after noon of Oprah watching I realized I could make a significant change by making a small one. Paper Towels went out of the window and Sham Wows moved in. Next I invested in cloth bags. I feel ultra sheik avoiding the paper/plastic issue by proudly saying, "I brought my own!" From then to now I have found many small ways to Green my life.

The more I learn the more I want to do. I dream of having a home that is completely off the grid. I would love to own a Eco-friendly vehicle. I want my children to not only be respectful, intelligent, street-wise, religious, but I want them to be passionate about our Earth. I have a long way to go, but that's okay. I am taking baby steps in the hope to save our Earth. This is my journey to going green.
